  • I haven't blogged here in ages... silly me. How quickly I've been swept up, and then let down, by tumblr. Anywho.

Things are going merrily in San Jo. I have three midterms in a row this week, and have two more to go. Asian American Studies seems really scary to me since I haven't written a timed essay in forever, but I studied for a near-solid 7 hours today, so I'm feeling pretty confident. And that's super power studying on my behalf, by the way. The day after that will be my Physics Lab exam. I had my Physics midterm today, and it was conceptually pretty easy, so I'm feeling rather confident. Plus I get to use my past Lab Reports as notes for the exam. I'm feeling confident.
On the other hand, I got my Microeconomics midterm back earlier this week, and I would have gotten a C+ without the extra credit... and I actually had a study group for that subject. What does that say about me and studying? Econ is apparently just not my thing..
I'm starting to feel that 4.0 fading away again... I seriously am determined to graduate Summa Cum Laude, meaning graduating with a cumulative 3.87. I know it sounds crazy and unnecessary, but my major is so underscored in the United States, I'm afraid I won't be able to achieve anything without it. Yeah. I'm scared for the future. I'm scaring myself into working hard; the true Asian way. Ha.

But things have been going well here. I have really good suite mates this semester, that I can actually relate to and understand (and vise versa). I've kept on decent terms with people from last year... I think things will be okay. I'm feeling very lucky to be here now..

I'll be home briefly this weekend. Shall we meet up?

  • Everyday is an Adventure

    "Today's gonna be an adventure!"
    "Everyday is an adventure, dear."

Someone please take me somewhere wonderful in the cities I haven't explored, to places I haven't been, and show me what I've been missing. Life is a big adventure, and I don't want to miss a thing.

An old friend of mine who I hadn't talked to in a while had moved to Washington, which is preeeetty far from here. Luckily, he had made some pretty good friends there who took him to lots of different places around town. He started a project where he mapped out all the places he'd gone to using Google Maps to remember the adventures he'd have with them. I found that incredibly awesome and inspirational, so I decided to start mapping my own adventures too. The wonderful thing about it is that you can add little side notes, so you can write little notes about what you did or who you were with. It makes you really nostalgic and happy.. it's always so nice to reminisce.

Over the summer break, a different friend of mine has been encouraging me to go out and explore different places. He sets a pretty good example too; he's filled up like seven albums of his adventures exploring neighboring cities in San Jose. He's pretty adamant about me actually making good use of my time (since otherwise I'll whine and complain to him about it), so I often gloat to him, "Hooray! Tomorrow I'm going on an adventure!!", to which he often reminds me, "Everyday is an adventure". I don't know if that's implying the movie quote from "Up", but it's still rather inspiring. Everyday is an adventure. Every. Day.

And so, I suggest to all of you, go out on adventure! Grab a friend or two and explore somewhere new. Life is an adventure!
